  1. Jobs at Starbucks

How can I apply for hourly retail opportunities?

Each Starbucks retail store independently hires and manages its own team of part-time and full-time hourly partners (employees). You may obtain an application at any Starbucks location or download the application. To find the Starbucks nearest you, use our Store Locator. Then visit the Starbucks locations that most interest you and submit an application.

How can I apply for a position with the Starbucks Support Center (Seattle Corporate Headquarters), Zone Offices, Roasting Plants, or Retail Management throughout the United States and Canada?

The best way to apply for a position is via the Career Center. You will have the opportunity to set up a personal account, create a profile, submit your resume, and apply for the positions that interest you.

After you have set up your personal account, you will have the ability to apply for specific positions, or just create a general profile for the recruiters to review. We encourage you to apply for a specific position because we receive a high volume of candidate profiles. When you apply for a specific position, you will be asked to answer pre-screening questions that help us assess your skills, knowledge, and qualifications based on the job requirements.

Your profile will remain active in our database for one year. Your information will be carefully considered and we will contact you if we determine that your skills and qualifications are a strong match for our current needs.

I already have a resume prepared. Why should I take the time to fill out a profile rather than send you my resume?

We believe our online application process will save you time by enabling you to easily update your personal and employment information as well as apply your profile information to multiple positions. Our online application process streamlines your candidate experience and will make your skills and qualifications more readily searchable to multiple recruiters within Starbucks Coffee Company. You can cut and paste your electronic resume into your personal profile for recruiters to reference. Our online application process allows you to:

Create a personal profile including your contact information, skills

    and qualifications, and electronic resume

Search and apply for available positions

Update your profile information as needed

Request to be notified via e-mail of new employment

opportunities that match specific criteria you define in your profile

Please visit the profile section today to submit your profile.

How can I learn which jobs are currently available? How will I know when a new opportunity becomes available?

You can review current opportunities on our Job Search page. While Starbucks job advertisements may appear in specific newspapers and magazines, the Starbucks web site remains the most comprehensive source of current opportunities, with the exception of retail hourly positions. Visit the store locations that interest you most to learn about retail hourly positions available. Alternately, you may also request to be notified via e-mail about opportunities that match specific criteria that you have defined in your profile.

How do I apply for multiple positions at Starbucks?

Once you complete your profile, you are able to apply your information to multiple positions. Please note that you must apply your information specifically to each position that is of interest to you. Each position may have job specific prescreening questions that should be completed. Your answers will assist our recruiters in assessing your qualifications for the position.

Can I still apply to Starbucks, even if there isn’t a specific position currently available that is of interest to me?

Yes. By creating a profile and entering your skills and qualifications into the system, a recruiter will be able to perform searches based on your information. In addition, you may also request to be notified via e-mail about opportunities that match specific criteria that you have defined in your profile.

How long will my profile remain in the database? How often should I update it?

Your profile will remain active in our database for one year. If your personal or employment information changes, we recommend you update your personal profile. At a minimum, your profile should be updated every twelve months.

How do I change my profile information?

Once you have created a profile, you may change your personal information or update your resume as needed. Simply access your profile with your user id/password and make the necessary changes. Your information will be updated immediately.

What if I forget my password?

Use the “Forgot Password” function on the login screen. You will receive an e-mail containing a temporary password and instructions on how to change your password. Go to the web address specified in the e-mail and enter your temporary password and a new password. Your new password will then be valid, and you can access your personal profile.

  3. Job Interview Tips

    Practice

Practice answering interview questions and practice your responses to the typical job interview questions and answers most employers ask. Think of actual examples you can use to describe your skills. Providing evidence of your successes is a great way to promote your candidacy.

    Prepare

Prepare a response so you are ready for the question "What do you know about our company. Know the interviewer's name and use it during the job interview. If you're not sure of the name, call and ask prior to the interview. Try to relate what you know about the company when answering questions.

    Get Ready

Make sure your interview attire is neat, tidy and appropriate for the type of firm you are interviewing with. Bring a nice portfolio with copies of your resume. Include a pen and paper for note taking.

    Be On time

Be on time for the interview. On time means five to ten minutes early. If need be, take some time to drive to the office ahead of time so you know exactly where you are going and how long it will take to get there.

    Stay Calm

During the job interview try to relax and stay as calm possible. Take a moment to regroup. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Listen to the entire question before you answer and pay attention - you will be embarrassed if you forget the question!

    Show What Your Know

Try to relate what you know about the company when answering questions.  When discussing your career accomplishments match them to what the company is looking for.

    Follow Up

Always follow-up with a thank you note reiterating your interest in the position. If you interview with multiple people send each one a thank you note.

  4. Just go in and ask for an application if you are the right age etc...they will hire you if not you can try again later.

    If you feel extra curious

You can always kindly ask them why they did not feel as though you could do the job if they do not hire you, so you can get some more information about what you can do better the next time around.

  5. You may want to ask some of these questions to the people currently working there. Surely they must know.

If you go when they're not busy they will probably be happy to tell you.

I don't think you need a work permit if you are 16 and up.

Again, that might be something you would want to ask them.

They might also be able to tell you where you can get one if you do need one and they might also know whether or not you can be a barista, starbucks is not a bar, only bars require that you be a certain age to make certain drinks so you can legally make any drink at starbucks as long as you are at the age to work there which is 16, but ask the staff or the manager to be sure.
