Question:

Starbucks Macchiato vs. Caramel Macchiato? Help!?

So I went to Starbucks the other day and tried to order just an Iced Macchiato, not an Iced Caramel Macchiato. Essentially, I wanted the milk and espresso shot without the caramel drizzle. So the cashier said that without the caramel, it is just an Iced Vanilla Latte. So I guess my question is, is this true? Is an Iced Macchiato just an Iced Vanilla Latte? I would like to believe otherwise....

  1. Here's a good answer!...

    An iced Latte Macchiato:

Milk -> Ice -> Shots on Top

    An iced Caramel Macchiato is:

Vanilla -> Milk -> Ice -> Shots -> Caramel Drizzle

The register partner is incorrect - Feel free to order---Iced, (size), Latte. - That's Milk, Espresso, with Ice on Top

An iced Macchiato is confusing just because if you order a "Macchiato" it's the number of shots requested with a dollop of rich, creamy milk foam on top.

  2. PSH! get a Double Chocolate Chip frapachino!

  3. It's probably just a Vanilla Latte...but try a Soy Latte...MMM!!!

  4. a macchiato is is espresso shots with steamed FOAM...

    macchiato means "marked with foam"

so basically macchiato is a hot drink.

so yes, the barista was right. its just an iced vanilla latte.

or if you don't want the vanilla, just ask for an iced latte next time.

    I'm a shift supervisor at a Starbucks.

  5. I think so - for as far as I remember, a macchiato has always been a caramel macchiato.
