Question:

Starbucks closing stores -- so what?

Clearly, people don't have their priorities straight if they're worried about coffee shops closing down. There are way too many more important things to be thinking about other than getting your favorite double-shot, mocha latte whipped cream blast or whatever the heck you call it.

What are your thoughts?

  1. I totally agree! Personally, I could care less that Starbucks stores are closing-- McDonald's and other places have good coffee for much less. Who wants to pay double for "charbucks"? =)

Don't get me wrong, I buy Starbucks coffee at times. I just don't see it lasting as a business model into the future.

  2. one time I was at a mall and past a Starbucks coffee store. the coffee smelled so strong that I had to hold my breath and pass real fast. there coffee is to strong for me. who cares, is right. I am more worried for people losing jobs and the gas and food prices going up and my pay check going down down down. yes I do love coffee but not Starbucks

  3. It doesn't have to do with coffee lattes.

It has to do when a company that has been economically strong starts to close stores due to falling sales it could signal the start of an economic recession.

  4. starbucks is sooooo goooooodddd

  5. i think some people should be worried, cuz they could be losing their job..

otherwise i think they r just sooo popular that them closing down is makin the addicts worry. lol. i love their caramel frappucinos but im nott addicted.. i hardly go once a month.. maybe once every twoo.. but NOW they have this sweet deal if u buy sumthin in the morning, they will stamp ur receipt and u can get a two dollar coffee grande and only after two of that same day..

    hekka niceee! lol

  6. It's just a coffee shop nothing important from my point of view on this topic.

  7. I totally agree with you!  Who cares?  They are expensive anyway.  I never frequent that shop....

You are absolutely right....there are many more important things to worry about !!!

  8. "And customers are rallying behind Starbucks. . . "  This is what I read. . .Why aren't people protesting the government to create more jobs. . lower gas prices. . . help the homeless. . .lower taxes. . .bring the troops back from Iraq. . . etc, etc.  Instead, we have morons buying $4-5 cups of coffee to save A COFFEE SHOP FROM GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.  I am a mental health counselor and you don't have to be one to notice, there is a serious problem with society when you see this going on.

  9. FINALLY som1 who believes in this popculture BS ive been going on about. "o i gotta get starbucks gotta grab my razr and my chihuahua and go to abercrombie and fitch to get a new outfit so im the sluttiest person at the kegger tonite" quit bein so lame evry 1

  10. Its the whole world economy not just starbucks

  11. hmmmmm i love starbucks because they have the best passion lemonade ice tea...but i could care less if they are closing stores. I'll just go bye coffee at Mcdonalds

But on the other hands I know there is only one Starbucks were i go to college and everybody loves  to hang out and do work there...if they closed that starbucks and other similar situations then i can see them getting angry cause it's one of those places were you can relax...and enjoy a cup a coffee.

Other then that i don't see why people are getting so concern....... :/ ?

  12. ok listen

    i freaking LOVE starbucks

i cant live with out it

my thoughts are i think its f****** stupid that they are doing it

yea i am worried and thats your opinion ok

  13. For people in big cities there are several others so this may not effect them, but in some smaller areas, there may not be other stores. If the only Starbucks in your area closed, how upset would this make you?

  14. Another sign of a bad economy.  Coffee brokers will feel the pinch.  Other than that, another high price chain hits the ground.

  15. I don't go into Starbucks much, but it's another sign our economy is in serious trouble if a company everyone thought was in great shape turns out to need to close 600 of their stores.  I'm okay without my $4 coffee but I'm still pretty worried.

  16. Starbucks is very trendy and has followed a wave.  I think it has reached its peak, however, and that the public is getting restless and looking for something new once more.

I think that Starbucks drinks are way too expensive.  I consider them as a treat, and not as something I would consume on a daily basis, as some people appear to do.  I really just like coffee that is hot and not too strong or too weak.  Starbuck's regular brew is way too strong for me.  I usually just order the iced drinks.

I once went down to Seattle and visited Pike's Market, which was I think, the inspiration for the Starbucks chain.  I thought it was really cool.  Afterwards a few films, such as 'Sleepless in Seattle' picked up on the theme.  The coffee chain became associated with this type of ambiance, and the marketing took off.

The coffee itself is overrated.  It often is not very hot.  The so-called "barrista talk" is overwhelming!

  17. I love coffee.  So I see why.  Yea theres more important things to worry about.  But whos to say we're not worrying about those too?

  18. As long as the Second Cups are safe...

  19. if each person buys their own coffee and the best pot or cappacheno coffee maker on the market they could still save money if they stay away from Starbucks.

Think of it ....5 dollars a day times 250 days is $1250 dollars a year...and that's just the coffee...sometimes you grab something to eat...right?  or you buy one for your friends, wife, kids....then it's $20 a day...if you saved that money for 10 years you could build a house. ..or buy a new car.

Give up the ego builder and drink coffee from the house and work.

  20. soooooooo what?!?!?

    i love starbucks!

    so good.

  21. yeah,it's all over the news.I really could care less,but it's making headlines!?I don't understand?

  22. About time and that stuff does not  taste like coffee.. way over rated and over priced.. the coffee alone is garbage and why do people pay a huge price for frothy milk and other junk in their coffee..so long starmucks

  23. though it is just coffee shops, starbucks did provide jobs for a lot of people. the problem is the rise of unemployment. this is just the beginning of what looks like a depression coming. think about it, the more unemployed people the more the government has to help. but where will the funds come from when there aren't as many tax payers because a good chunk of them are out of jobs? too bad we wasted so much money in iraq.

  24. the only way i would really  be worried about starbucks closing would be if i worked at starbucks. then l would be upset about losing my job.  they have about  ten thousand starbucks and only six hundred closing. thats a drop in the bucket, or a needle in a haystack. what's the big deal.if one starbucks gets closed, you can always go to the one across the street.

  25. their coffee is terrible so i am glad they are closing.

they are only popular because they are trendy. :-P

  26. I think it sucks because there are going to be more people without jobs. No, Starbucks isn't the highest paying employer, but a job is a job. In our current economy, any job is better than no job.

On the other hand, I think that it was poor planning on Starbuck's part. Lots of companies expanded way too fast when times were good and they are paying for it now.

It all looks like just mochas and lattes from the surface, but it really does say a lot about our current economy if you really look at it all.
