Starbucks tea question?

what is a typical thing to add in a black hot tea from starbucks? and what does it do to the taste? and how common is it?

Some people like to put half and half, especially in black tea because it has that strong flavor. You can also put sugar, or any other sweetener you desire. It is all a matter of preference.

I would first taste the tea without any additives, then adjust the tea to taste.

Also I recommend trying the chai as a hot tea (not the latte), you can taste all the spices. Then there's Awake which is a more traditional tasting black tea. Earl grey has a smell/taste reminiscent of perfume or something, very peculiar but some people like it.  

As far as commonness goes. . . . it's uncommon for people to order black hot tea. People usually get lattes or frappuccinos, especially now during summer.

I love to add some steamed milk ( a tea misto) and some vanilla syrup! Or you can get the chai latte and add one pump of white mocha and one pump of cinnamon dolce...sssooooooo goood. Everyone I have had try this loves it!
