Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm trailer leaked, Sarah Kerrigon and Jim Raynor spotted
The world of gaming is not known as one that can keep things under wraps or indeed, any secrets as a new cinematic trailer for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm has been doing the rounds on various video-sharing websites.
Blizzard, the studio behind the game, have had another leak as this is the second time a Starcraft II video has found its way on to the internet without the developers consent, or in fact their knowledge.
The latest trailer shows a group of ghosts making their way through what appears to be a high security compound as they search for Kerrigan. The trailer then goes on to show Jim Raynor, the space marine from previous instalments of the game.
The ending of the trailer sees the ghosts squad wiped out by a blast of energy when they approach a large sealed door. Before the trailer ends, it shows Raynor entering the room the same room outside of which the ghosts met their demise to find what appears
to be Kerrigan.
For those new to the series, Kerrigan is a former ghost who later became the Swarm’s queen and leader of the Zerg faction.
This is the second leak that Blizzard will have to deal with after the previous cinematic, which was leaked over a year ago, was rumoured to be the ending for the game. However, while that was an in-game cinematic, the latest trailer seems more marketable
and can only be described as a teaser trailer, raising more questions than it answers.
Yet fans of the series will have been glad to see both Kerrigan and Raynor feature in the trailer, though whether or not any new characters will be joining them remains an unanswered question.
There is still confusion as to whether the Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm will be priced as a full game at launch, which would make it a $60 purchase for fans, or whether Blizzard will release it as an expansion pack.
A statement from Blizzard previously stated that all new entries in the series would be priced as expansions, yet that has not done enough to ease the nerves of many of its fans.
While there is no set release date for the game, the strongest rumours doing the rounds are that the expansion should be out either by the end of the current year or around March of next year. Blizzard however, have not commented on the matter which could
mean that the game could be released even later.
Starcraft is one of the most played games in cyber tournaments around the world and has a passionate following in South Korea. The latest leak will do nothing but add fuel to the speculation surrounding the highly anticipated title.
