When I go to the gym every single guy stares at me like they want to fight me, I have know idea what there problem is, it's just not one guy. It's pretty much the whole entire gym gives me go to h**l looks it makes me so mad so I just stare at the ground the whole entire time i workout. Is there something I could tell them without sounding rude and starting a fight for them to stop staring at them oh yeah and when I am in the middle of a set do a rep they seem to get inches away from me and make me lose concentration during my set and have to re-rack the weight. Should I tell them what's there problem or just hit them or something for not having the common since of not to stare at people, I swear it makes me so mad I don't even want to go to the gym but I already paid a whole entire year membership? I really don't know what to do any help would be great.

  1. You should ask for a refund of your membership due to a hostile environment.  You don't need to put up with that c**p.

  2. Seriously, unless you live in a small town and everyone knows who you are, and you've done something, these guys are not trying to fight you.

Lets be serious here...and realistic, when guys go to the gym, they do so because they want to better their appearance, and the way they feel. These type of men tend to be very aware of other men (sometimes they are g*y but Im not saying you are =)) and so they will check these other men out, maybe they like the way hes worked up his legs. Who knows? The truth is I thinking your taking it to the head. And if anyone is going to start a problem, it will be you.

Just imagine, your minding your own business, and then someone comes in your face, and asks 'You have a problem?'. I highly suggest you NOT doing that to someone. You will only MAKE that person not like you.

What I suggest for you to do is to get 'friendly'. I know that sounds uncomfortable, but a simple, 'whats up', or a comment to whats on T.V. will suffice. So even for some reason if they did want to fight you, they'd loosen up because you seem like a cool guy.

So lighten up, and enjoy the sets =)

  3. I agree, but don't ask for a refund just yet.  I find that often, if you speak to a higher authority, they'll do their best to fix the problem.  After all, they want to keep their customers, right?  Do *not* hit them, and I wouldn't say anything, either.  I'd just give them a look that clearly said, "What the heck?" and then look away.  Try to avoid eye contact.  If none of this works, it's probably time to find another gym.

  4. Either go to a different gym or just ignore them

  5. As someone who has spent considerable time at the gym, unless you are wearing something like speedos, I doubt anyone is really staring at you, and if they are indeed staring, it could very well be because you have a nice body (in a heterosexual way) and they want to know what type of routine you follow.

If this perceived staring bothers you so much and you can't ignore it, just go at a different time.

  6. There seems to be a lot of testosterone flying around in this situation. Next time they are too close for comfort ask, "Hey buddy, can you spot me on this set?"  If they see you as non-threatening, you will probably end up with a good loyal workout partner.
