Starkiller (Galen Marek) sword style: A real style or not?

The apprentice (starkiller, Galen Marek) holds his lightsaber with the blade facing back (see here for a picture http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/7/7e/SecretApprentice_tfu.jpg/180px-SecretApprentice_tfu.jpg ) I was wondering if there was any information on this type of sword style. Thanks for the help

  1. A lot of the Roppo Kuji no Biken cuts end up in a reverse grip, though the idea there seems more to be cutting in as normal and letting the wrist twist into a reverse grip (It makes sense if you just grip the tsuka with the top hand upside down...)

There's also Kage no Kamae from Togakure-ryu, where the reverse grip is meant more to disguise the fact you have a sword in hand (or, perhaps more appropriately, exactly what weapon you have in hand).

I find that, like most kamae, the reverse grip (Kage no Kamae) is more useful as a transitional point than as a continuous grip...

  2. No of course it is not real, silly.

  3. Yes, there are styles that hold the sword that way. Some Hoppo Biken Jutsu techniques hold it that way and there are some Batto-jutsu techniques that also hold it that way.

There are entire styles devoted to fighting with hat sword that way, but I can't think of their names. It may only be one.
