Starlight Angel eager to break maiden in Folkestone trip
In her 6-race career, Starlight Angel has always done well, though not won, over soft surfaces. Luckily, she has been enlisted to run the Geraint Jones Benefit Year Nursery at Folkestone. With the high-voltage race set to occur today, the Ronald Harris trained
bay filly seems to be quite confident to break her maiden by winning over half a dozen rivals.
Keeping in view the two-year-old novice runner’s past performances, most of the sport analysts claim that she has an ideal chance to enter the door of success as almost the whole of her opposition is slack enough.
Before bringing home the ace title, the young Irish filly will have to run over 5 furlongs with the surface being quite soft following some showers.
During the last week, Starlight Angel had an all-embracing drill that refined her skills and lifted her form to a great extent. Now, she is all ready to unleash a convincing run in her first Folkestone trip.
The daughter of Dark Angel out of King Of All commenced her career on June 9. In her very first outing, that took place on the soft track of Chester, she finished as the runner-up.
The owner, Mrs A. Mares, decided to run the filly in the Royal Ascot event. She participated in the Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies), but failed to handle the pressure of such a grand race and, resultantly, finished as 21st.
During July-August, the Hugo Merry bred filly stood fourth in three consecutive races. Then there came the Walters UK/British Stallion Studs E B F Maiden Fillies' Stakes of September 16---she fought well and earned the runner-up rank.
Hopefully, Starlight Angel will run audaciously in today’s marathon. On winning, she will get £2,386.
Among the filly’s competitors, Clean Blow is likely to perform well. The David Brown trained bay and brown filly finished second in her second last race that was the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes, held at Warwick. She
is too desperate to break her maiden.
The two fillies will compete hard, but Starlight Angel is destined to carry the day.
