Starlin Castro joyous at another appearance in All-Star Game – MLB News
After his second consecutive appearance in the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 10, the Chicago Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro hoped he will be part of this majestic game on annual basis. He was, after all, a part of National League team on Tuesday that beat the American League by a big margin of 8-0.
The experience of appearing in the All-Star Game once again this year was great for the 22-year-old young player. This year’s experience, in particular, was way different for this talented shortstop representing the Chicago Cubs.
"I feel really, really good, happy to be out there for the second time," Castro said. "It was a little bit different, because there were a lot of different players and a different field, but it's kind of awesome, you know? It was an unbelievable day that I'll never forget in my whole life.”
For him, there has been a lot of motivation. Having had the opportunity to be at-bat in Tuesday’s game was an experience in itself. An unforgettable day for the young player. The fact that Tony La Russa, the National League team manager asked him to go for pinch-hitting was something great.
Castro does not stop there. With hopes that are real, he wants more of such experiences in the future.
Starling said, “It's a lot of motivation for me, because it's my second time playing in the All-Star Game. A lot of guys come to the All-Star Game and don't play, but he [NL manager Tony La Russa] put me in there for two innings and I got an at-bat. This is my experience and I want more."
In Tuesday’s game, he went to play in the eighth-inning where he flied out to the right-centre as the pinch hitter.
Tuesday’s appearance means a lot to Starlin Castro. Given the fact that he is still 22, his ability to make it to the All-Star Game for the second consecutive year is a testament to the fact that he can achieve more glories not only for himself, but also for the team to elevate them in the years to come.
