Starmount Jake clinches victory by just a short head distance in Belle Vue
Starmount Jake just managed to win the the Grade OR Belle Vue Standard 470 metres, by a short head distance at Belle Vue on Thursday, January 12, 2012. The cash prize for the triumphant hound was £150.
The winning dog popped out of trap number two, and covered the race distance in 28.12 seconds. His starting price was 3 to 1, and was expected to finish in the top three.
The K A Harris trained hound certainly lived up to his reputation.
Starmount Jake is the son of Westmead Diver out of Jumeirah Sheba, and was born in June 2009.
The race was not easy for Starmount Jake, as he was challenged time and again by Bellamore Lad, who finished second overall.
His starting price was 4 to 1, and completed the total distance in 28.13 seconds, breaking in from trap number six.
Bellamore Lad is trained by H Adamson, and the black dog is the son of Droopys Maldini, out of Longton Queen, born in August 2008.
Miss Ada took the third place by a neck distance to Bellamore Lad.
She was one of the least favourites to do well in the race, with a starting price of 8 to 1, but gave a tough time to the leaders.
The third placed b***h finished the race in 28.16 seconds, after going in from trap number four. Her trainer, S Mason, would have been pleased with the result.
Miss Ada was born in July 2009, and she is the daughter of Premier Fantasy and Crazy Jane.
Valentia Zig, the race favourite, ended up in a disappointing fourth place.
He had a starting price of 5 to 4, and covered the overall distance in 28.30 seconds. The L Troughton trained hound had entered the race from trap number five.
The black and white dog was the youngest of all hounds, born in December 2009 to Zigzag Stewart, out of Valentia Show.
C T Lund’s trainee, Slippery Dave, completed the race in 28.36 seconds. He had a starting price of 9 to 4, and broke from trap number three.
Slippery Dave is the son of Top Honcho and Steamy Windows, and was born in September 2008.
Shelbourne Abi completed the order of finish, clocking a time of 28.76 seconds.
She went into the race from trap number one, and had a starting price of 8 to 1. Her trainer, J D Davy, would certainly have been extremely disappointed with the outcome of the race.
The black b***h is the daughter of Wheres Pedro out of Shelbourne Dora, born in July 2009.
This race was certainly an exciting one for the spectators, as only 0.04 seconds separated the top three. However, the three way battle was won by Starmount Jake in the end.
