Starmount Jake expected to win Heat 7 of Bettor.Com Scottish Derby
Starmount Jake seems to be in the most favourable position to finish first in the Heat 7 contest of Bettor.Com Scottish Derby 2012 1st Round which will take place at Shawfield racecourse on Saturday night, March 31.
The J. Bateson-trained black and white dog is all set to browbeat his competitors including Salacres Sparky, Ballymac Xavi, Bowtime Sykes, Trickys On Fire and Droopys Cristian.
Starmount will break from Trap 1 when the action starts at 21:15 (GMT). There is £100 of prize money in the purse.
The three-year-old veteran hound bagged a couple of consecutive victories each during the first two months of the calendar year. He also earned two runner-up positions in this period.
The dashing dog finished fourth in his last outing on March 24. He staged his debut on January 22, 2011 and registered a marvellous hat-trick by winning the first three races of his career.
Overall, the son of Westmead Diver out of Jumeirah Sheba poses to be a consistent performer and regular winner. He is likely to sustain his winning momentum and notch up first position in tonight’s marathon as well.
Starmount Jake’s chances to thrive are as high as 90 percent provided he manages to contain two of his rivals named as Bowtime Sykes and Droopys Cristian.
Bowtime Sykes also won first three races of his career which began in October 2011. The J. Bateson-trained black dog went on to bag a victory along with a runner-up position in the month of November. The son of Big Daddy Cool out of Borna Moon won a race
each in February and March 2012.
On the other hand, Droopys Cristian accomplished an epic hat-trick during December 2011. E. Parker’s black dog attained two triumphs and two runner-up ranks in a row during February-March 2012.
Thus, both these hounds will give a lot of tough time to the hot favourite runner who is required to run to his utmost in a bid to make his way towards victory. Let us enjoy the marathon and see who gains what. Good luck to all the contestants.
