Starmount Jake stormed to victory at Belle Vue
Starmount Jake went through and through in the 470 metres Grade A1 race at Belle Vue on Thursday, February 2, 2012. He was not the favourite to win, but still ended up on top, winning a cash prize of £106.
The triumphant greyhound has been pretty much impressive over the past few events, and he was given a good starting price of 5 to 2 by the bookmakers. He did not disappoint at all, performing exceptionally well in the race.
Starmount Jake completed the race distance in 28.05 seconds, after breaking in from trap number one. He led from the start and continued building on that momentum until the end of the race.
K. A. Harris’ trained dog is the son of Westmead Diver, out of Jumeirah Sheba, and was born in June 2009.
The least favourite dog to win the race, Mill Finas, had an impressive outing at Belle Vue. He was given a starting price of 10 to 1, but managed to complete the race in second place. His trainer, A. P. Heyes, would have been extremely happy with the
outcome of the event.
Mill Finas covered the race distance in 28.22 seconds, after popping out from trap number four. He was crowded at the start, but found some room to run towards the end of the race.
The runner up dog is the son of Hondo Black, out of Returned Fire, and was born in September 2008.
Third place went to Bellamore Lad, who was the favourite to win with a starting price of 7 to 4. He managed to complete the race distance in 28.32 seconds, after breaking in from trap number six.
Bellamore Lad failed to get off to a good start, and struggled to catch the top two from then onwards. He showed some decent speed towards the end of the race, but it was a little too late.
The H. Adamson trained dog is the son of Droopys Maldini out of Longton Queen and was born in August 2008.
Further down the order, Wellfield Poppy completed the race in fourth place, after entering from trap number three.
The final two places were taken by Lively Mandan and Low Wood Gift, who were unable to match the speed of the front runners.
The race was quite an impressive one for Starmount Jake, but the race favourite greyhound disappointed his team.
