Starscope tipped to win Swettenham Stud Fillies´ Trial Stakes
Starscope is tipped to win the Swettenham Stud Fillies´ Trial Stakes (Listed Race) at Newbury in England on Friday, May 18, 2012. The winner of the class-1 event will be awarded a cash prize of £18,714.
Only eight runners have been attracted towards the race, which is scheduled to start at 14:10 GMT, and their names are as follows: Starscope, Firdaws, Morant Bay, Lacily, Shirocco Star, Momentary, Gold Show and Young Lou.
The going will be good to soft in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 6 yard race, which will test the stamina of all participants to some extent.
The bookies have shown full faith in the abilities of Starscope, who appears to be in very good form at the moment. She will definitely attract a lot of bets in her favour today, as her most recent run yielded a good result for her.
In her previous race, the three-year-old filly ended up second overall, despite not being rated as the favourite to do so. She was not expected to fight for the top three, but still managed to impress one and all with her skills.
Although the John Gosden’s trainee was unable to come anywhere closer to the race winner, she managed to get the attention of everyone. She is carrying very good rhythm at the moment, thus has a solid chance of bringing up a victory at Newbury.
Overall, Starscope has participated in three races until now, winning one of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. She will be partnered by Jimmy Fortune, who has earned quite a lot of victories at this level.
On the other hand, Firdaws is also a very good runner and has got a decent record in the sport. She has participated in three events until now and has never dropped out of the top three even once.
The three-year-old filly finished third in her previous outing, which shows that she is in good form at the moment. However, she will need to be at her absolute best in order to take the top spot.
Starscope will be partnered by Tadhg O'Shea in the race. The seasoned jockey has won quite a few events, but does not have a good strike rate.
