Hi I want to start an online poker site with small capital. Cant afford the whole software price plus licensing. I read on the internet that sites like GameCities can offer help to build a poker site.

Any better suggestion/advice?

  1. If you have followed the online casino industry as of late, you'll notice that almost all the smaller casinos are folding or selling out to larger companies. The U.S. has put a great deal of pressure on the banking institutions for which the casinos use. This process has become increasingly more difficult and expense. In addition, you would have to start the company in country that allows online gambling as the U.S. does not.

  2. I suggest that is not going to happen.

BoDog was set up for $10,000.  It's one of the cheapest start ups I've heard about.

Unfortunately, that was back in the day when it was all new and the laws were different.

These days you have to compete against the big boys with millions of dollars in advertising budget.  Even if you got the whole site set up, why should any player play at your new and untested site when there are many well established sites with beautiful graphics and celebrity poker pro endorsements?

My belief is that this ship has sailed.  The only new sites you are going to see are ones where some rich business people have paid a top pro to represent them and paid a fortune to advertise the new site.

Remember too that thanks to the new law you can't even host it in America.

My advice is to produce a really cool site for poker players and make money referring people to existing poker sites.  Some sites pay $75+ to recruit new players, and some sites will pay you 20%-40% of the rake for life.

  3. from Secrets Revealed newsletter:

Casino startup cost $250, 10% royalty fee. Including design, hosting, gambling license.

check gamingware special offers (appears to be valid for March only)

  4. That's alot of money...

  5. yes, get a job. how do you realistically think your going to compete and make money against the huge organisations with plenty of funding.

    McDonalds are recruiting.

  6. i bet it is pricey.
