When I requested to do an interview before or after work, the interviewer wouldn't hear of it. Insisted on Tuesday during the day. I think it might be a good opportunity, but I'm turned off by the interviewer's lack of thoughtfulness. He said he would need at least 2 hours to meet with varying members of his team. That would be okay but when I've worked around my schedule for people who will not negotiate with me, it has never gotten me a job offer. What do you think?

  1. That seems kind of weird to me. Just remember that you will be working for this person so if he is already rubbing you the wrong way, imagine how will be if you're working for him. Maybe try to work something out with your current job. Just say you have an "appointment". That is general enough for them to not know you are going for a job interview but will still give you enough time to meet with the other company. You never know. It may end up being something worth you time. Just make sure to be careful. There are a lot of schemes out there and I would have for you to give up one job and not get what you were expecting in return.

  2. Start the new job and see how you feel about it and how they feel about you. You cannot lose a job you don't have and you're right... you were turned off by the interviewer's lack of thoughtfulness. Is that the kind of company you want to work for and the kind of people you want to work with??? You have alot of integrity and that's such a great trait. I bet you'll go further in the new job than you could possibly get in the potential one. Congratulations on the new job!!!

  3. There's a old saying that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

You don't want to risk losing a sure thing for a maybe unless, of course, the maybe is really, really good.
