Question:

Start degree get ISIC, buy cheap flights, then quit?

I noticed that through STA Travel for example, it's possible to get cheap round the world flights, but only if you hold an ISIC card. To get a card you must be in full time education (or under 26, which I'm not). Is it possible to sign up for some cheap online degree program, use that to get the card, then quit, with no real money lost?

  1. ISIC is not always required to get "student" tickets.  And, student tickets aren't always cheaper--but typically more flexible (cheaper to change the return date, for example).

Be sure to shop consolidators, because that's what student ticket sellers essentially are, but with more flexibility.  Try http://www.bookingbuddy.com which will search many in one go for you.

Also, http://www.studentuniverse.com only require you to have an .edu email address to verify.  And http://www.generationfly.com is Lufthansa's direct student sales site.
