Question:

Start of the end for #46?

I've just read an interesting article on http://www.kropotkinthinks.com/

Could this possibly be the start of a downward slide for "The Doctor?"

Recent events have certainly proved that he is human after all. And since Lorenzo has had such a stunning start to the season, its also shown that there's life ater Rossi.

If indeed this is the start of the end, I cant help thinking that its all his own doing. Do you think he regrets switching to Bridgestone? I'm sure with his experience he would have bettered Jorge on equal kit.

I know the season is still early, and a lot can happen. But Vale really needs some wins to strengthen his hand.

It deffinitely seems to me that he's not the force he once was in Moto Gp. And I dont mean racing ability. I mean that people aren't gonna jump as readilly when the great man speaks!

Your thoughts please.

  1. Whoa , Wait just a minute. Hi Neilgtti, I know according to Toby and Julian the silly season had started early this year.

Rossi;s move to Bridgestones was his decision, no one Else's. are we to doubt the genius himself. I think this is all to try and get him to sign sooner rather than later when things might look a bit different. As I have stated earlier, what he has done on the bridgestones already amazes me. Will we still be asking these sort of questions AFTER China. when we see a (the first) Bridgestone track. There are more Bridgestone tracks than Michelin ones in the season.

The Yamaha has already been proved as quick under Lorenzo with Rossi still in touch. Will we see the same when the tables are turned ? I cant wait to see.

I also wonder what Rossi's worth will be if he wins China. and before they start I have it between Rossi and Stoner.

The championship and Rossi are a long long way from being over.

Three races in and nobody has a clue as to which way things are going to go.

I find that fantastic.  Bring on China, I cant wait.

  2. Hey Neil,

Another interesting article from Kropotkin - he does seem to appreciate the nuances of P.R. spin, sponsorship and the psyche out that goes on behind the scenes!

I think your last sentence probably sums up his situation nicely

  3. It's a bit early to say, but could he do a John Surtees and switch to four wheels and still win?

  4. I hear what your saying Mr GTI, Vale is having an " different " start to the year.

As for the move to Bridgestone, I said a long time ago, Michelin would pull there socks up and start to kick butt. They have done.

Rossi is the only Bridgestone runner out there worth his salt at the moment. I know the last 2 tracks have been Michelin tracks, but they really dont seem to be performing the way were last year.

After watching Assen from 2007, coming from as low down as 13th at one point, then to pass everybody, after toyying with Casey for 8 laps, I really do pity anybody who thinks has lost it.

The trouble is, for Vale, coming second & then third in a title is just un heard off. Most ( read 99% ) would love to have rider on the " Final Poduim " but for Rossi, its a let down.

Ive said it before, and ill say it again, write Valentino off at your peril !

  5. yep he's done

  6. I dont know. I still think he has a title win left in him yet. He has been racing on tyres that suit Casey over the past three races, so hopefully when he gets his own tyres he will be on the top step. China will tell a different story. Jorge and Dani are on fire so far!!! Cant wait until Sunday!!

  7. I would agree with what your saying.I'm sure he regrets switching to Bridgestone, and while he will surely get a couple of wins this year, all eyes are on the newcomers as they are exceeding expectations straight out of the box.I think his talent of making a sh*tter into a goer, and getting every last percentage and more is useless against the advance of the electronic systems on the bike,he just can't get his head around it,and that is the same position some of the other vets are stuck in.He has dealt his hand,if it doesn't work,he can't blame Yamaha.I'm not a big fan,but he is great, and anyone but stoner this season will be a good result.
