Question:

Start paying for cable legally, after not doing it?

So previously cable was paid for in the house, when the person paying moved out and cancelled the service, the actual connection remained and therefore cable works. But since no one is paying for it, its illegal. No one is stealing the neighbor's cable, etc... but the cable guys just never came in to properly disconnected (I think the one time they did come, they couldnt go to the back because someone was house sitting and couldnt secure our dog).

So, now that I want to get a contract with the same cable company what can we do? If we wanted to get their new service, they'd have to come in and connect tv's, etc... Any ideas? Do we just unplug the cable? THanks.

  1. As long as you haven't touched their cables external to your house, you're OK. Call them and order service.

  2. If they didn't physically disconnect it, shame on them.  They should have records of what is and is not connected.  The red flag for them is if they climb the pole and find wires connected that they have no record of.

Call them and contract for cable service.  Probably nothing will be said.
