Starter Dillon Gee feels better after surgery – MLB Update
The New York Mets starting pitcher Dillon Gee has recently spoken to the media and told some reporters that he is feeling much better after undergoing a surgery to remove blood clot from an artery.
“I had so much time off that the first time I threw it was, ‘What’s this going to feel like? This year, the first few weeks have felt better than they normally do I thought that was a real good sign,” Gee said in a recent telephone interview.
He added with more detail and explained in the media, “One of the things with my surgery we were hoping for was, by recouping some of the blood flow I had lost, that my recovery would be better that seems to be the case so far. I’m excited. The doctor said he was surprised I could recover every five days as it was, with lack of blood and oxygen.”
Though Gee could not finish the season on a high note but still he manages to achieve good numbers. He achieved consistent numbers of 4.10 ERA along with 6-7 win loss, 97 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP. Overall he has achieved also consistent career numbers of 4.06 ERA along with 21-15 win loss, 228 strikeouts and 1.31 WHIP.
The Mets also feel confident that they have Dillon Gee back in the roster. Gee started his career from the Mets franchise in 2010 and since then playing with quite consistency. He knows his game well and always has given his best on the field.
Now experts believe that this is a very healthy sign that Dillon Gee will be back in the starting rotation next season. His presence will create a healthy competition within the franchise as well. Jeurys Familia, Matt Harvey and Jonathon Niese are some other starters in the roster who will certainly carry forward the franchise’s burden.
Jonathon Niese played brilliantly in the last season and achieved consistent results with 3.40 ERA along with 13-9 win-loss, 155 strikeouts and 1.17 WHIP. Overall he also possesses career record of 4.06 ERA along with 35-32 win-loss, 470 strikeouts and 1.36 WHIP.
