Starter road bike?

I've been surfing through random brands, and I found a few Schwinn road bikes around $200. I'm still wondering which brand offers better starter road bikes; I'm not hardcore so I'm looking for entry level stuff.

  1. Avanti is a good brand and their usually pretty cheap!

  2. Ok, well I'll give you my experience with my first and current bike...I have a Lemond Reno...paid $900+ for it.  It is an entry level road bike, technically...However, the parts are made well, but not as "light" as the more expensive models...I have nearly 4,000 miles on it, with mostly crappy road riding, and only have had the back wheel go out of true, but is fixed now.

Best bet: go to a bike shop and tell them what you're looking for.

  3. Hey, I just bought a brand new bike called Specialized. Mine is the Elite model.  I love it.  It's about $450 U.S. or $570 Canadian. Shock absorbing seat, shock absorbing front fork where the wheel is attached.  Virtually indestructible tires. 24 speeds.  I use it mainly to get around in the city.  It would be classified as a "comfort" mountain bike.  Talk about comfort!  Go visit their website sometime.  Good luck

  4. If you want the truth, do not waste 200 on a schwinn. I got a one for cheap and it lasted less than a year before everything fell apart. Do not buy schwinn unless its a up-scale one.

So if you want entry level look at the grand Giant.

  5. if your talking about pushbikes i cant help cuz i do bmx (bicycle motor cross)
