Hey guys, My previous question was should i either get a 150 or a 250, well i got a 07 crf250r for 2500 and i am loving it. But i am not shure if it has a problem. Well when ever i try and start it, ill kick and kick and it wont start, but then ill hold the Throtl just a little bit open and it fires righttt up. It's not that big of a deal but is this a sign of valves going out or jetting? Thanks tony, P.s Thanks alot with the answerd about the crf150 or 250 i rewally made a good choice.

  1. completely normal

  2. My friend has a 2004 with brand new valves and it takes him up to 10 kicks sometimes. That is just the way 4 strokes are set up.

  3. don't ever expect to just kick like crazy on a four stroke and have it rev up like you see on two strokes

on a four stroke, what you idealy want to do, is get the piston TDC, and give it a GOOD HARD single kick and follow all the way through it.... it should start in 2-3 kicks everytime....

putting it on choke and giving it no throttle helps too... (putting it on choke and opening up the throttle gives the exact opposite desired results... makes it even harder for the bike to start)

your bike is fine... four strokes just aren't the easy kick machines like two strokes are... that's why alot of fourstrokes these days have electric start... (lol it's almost a standard)

  4. well thats totally normal,

some bikes are different. With my old 125 it would need no throttle just kick to start on a cold engine but when engine is hot it needed throttle and kick.

Its just the way they are dont worry you'l learn your manurisms
