Starting Car Issues!

Okay. I have absolutely had it up to here with trying to find car answers online! Lets try here!

I bought my first car 2 weeks ago. Its a 96 Cavalier. 2.2l engine, had 137,855 miles on it when i bought it for $1100. Got a new battery for it the same day... About 2 days after i got it it started making a clunking noise, took it in to get it looked at and it needed all new brake pads, new shoes, and a few other things for the back tires just to get the brakes in working order again. OK so i payed for that.. $400...

It started acting up when starting it.. took it in for a tune-up... $200....

It needed ALL new spark plugs.. whoever put them in the car before i had it... didn't know about cars or something cause they got the wrong gap size and type. The fuel filter was disgusting, as was the air and oil filters. It got an oil change, and a fuel system flush. And when i started it up to leave.. started like a dream.

Well now the symptoms are worse than before...

It cranks. but wont start till i press the gas pedal. Then it idles rough. Its frustrating me! I can't figure out whats going on. Alternator? Starter? I DONT KNOW!!!!

Can someone help?? any ideas...? I need to know if its something extremely serious.. cause i cant afford anything more than like $150 to put into it right now. But I at least want to know what it is...

email me if you need to know anymore about it

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

  1. it sounds like you may have a fuel pump going out on it,that's what will cause the problem your having on it right no,with having to pump the gas to get it started sounds like a fuel delivery problem with it,have them check the fuel pressure on it this will clear that part of it up,good luck.
