Starting Clomid on day 6?

I have irregular periods. My Dr. put me on Clomid. I started taking Clomid a day late. I started on day 6. Will this hurt my chances of ovulating? Also will Clomid make my cycle regular?

Thanks for your help!

  1. If you're not ovulating, it will help make your body ovulate.  It does tend to make you ovulate later, if you ovulated normally without Clomid.

  2. I am a sufferer of PCOS. I also have irregular periods or miss them all together. My first line of attack was Metformin- which seemed to bring on regular periods, however did not ovuate. I was then put on clomid, but take it from day 2- 6. I am ovualating with the clomid, but am also being given the pregnyl shot the help trigger the egg to release. Your best way of knowing if you have ovulated is get blood tests done.

  3. When I was on it my doctor had me take it days 3-7 at first, then I did 5-9. You'll have to ask him/her if one day later makes a difference. I can tell you to not waste too many cycles on Clomid. Not only does it make most women sick with hot flashes & irritability, but it rarely results in a pregnancy that sticks. It did nothing for me, never made ma ovulate at all, but got me really sick. I finally got pg from injectible fertility drugs but Femara (another pill) made me ovulate where Clomid never did. Also Femara doesn't get anyone sick.
