My schools getting lacrosse next year. I want to join the team but first I want to familiarize myself with the sport. Any advice on how to do so.

I want to find a team or coach or something like that over this summer. I tried to find something online but didnt see anything. Any additional advice on that?

  1. like what the other guy said but choose what position you want to play and get the stick for that position. I got used to an attack stick (short)  but i play defense (long) so its kinda hard.

  2. Do you want to play long stick, short or goal?  I would get a short stick and throw off of a wall or play catch with a friend.  Get used to playing catch with the stick along with shooting, passing and cradling.  After you get good at that, see if you can pass, shoot and cradle while you're running around.  This will let you get used to the fast pace of running around the field.  Work on endurance, especially if you play middie.  You can do this by running a few miles and also running wind sprints (suicides, etc)...Remember, to receive the pass...look the ball all the way in.  If you have any questions, just send me an email.

  3. If you've never played before, I would recommend going to a camp so you can try out all the different positions. Defense, Attack, Middie and Goalie.

Playng wall ball is a great way of improving your stick skills.

Try talking with some other kids who are interested in lax, and get together and throw around with them, and find out their plans for the summer.
