  1. if you can wake up pretty early in the morning.. when the sun hasnt really come out yet.. that's great. but otherwise, yes, the morning is a good time to run. you can also run in the evening.. basically just run whenever the temperature feels pretty good. running at night is fun too (but be careful)

don't shower first.. it's pointless. you can shower after you run, which is after you're all sweaty. a nice cold shower can be very refreshing.

i actually dont eat breakfast before i run.. or even an hour before. it would irritate me. i know a lot of people that just dont eat at all. some people can handle the food before the run. but yes, if you must, eat an hour or more before you run. and no dairy, (like milk). i suggest you experiment to see if you can take the food before you run first. eat and hour before and then run. if you dont eat before you run, just eat after.

and when you become sore, it is because your muscles are developing.. you should run through your soreness. the way to recover is by RUNNING THROUGH IT.

good luck. have fun. set goals.

  2. The virtues of running in the morning are well-documented.  You get energized, you feel good for getting it out of the way, and the rest of the day didn't slide it off your schedule.

That said, I'm an evening runner.  I'm not a morning person, and it's hard enough getting myself into work at a reasonable hour.  Also, running after work allows me to blow off some steam, and I'm refreshed when I get home.

The important thing is to make it fun.  If you can, find a training buddy.  When you run depends on what's comfortable for you and your schedule.  Hope that helps.

  3. Drink a glass of water first if in the morning - plenty of water all day - stay hydrated.  No don't eat before running or heavy exercise.  Eat after.  If you shower first you'll be sweaty after anyway - why?  The morning is cooler - I try to run when the temp is between 60 and 80 F if possible.  Not too hot or cold

  4. Well running in the morning is a great way to start off the day, especially since it is not as hot in the morning as it is during the day.

  5. i like running in the morning is best, but evenings are good too. its probably a good idea to shower after your done cause most people stink after wards. for breakfast: eat an hour before. have dry cereal, trail mix, granola bars, or (my fav) toast/bagels with peanut butter. STAY AWAY FROM MILK before you run. drink lots of water and good luck!!
