Starting School?

Ok, so this question is really for a cousin (Jacky) of mine whos son (Noah) is starting Pre-K. Jacky is wondering what books she could read to Noah to prepare him for what's ahead.

Do you know of any?

The Kissing Hand is a popular book that is read at the beginning of the year for preK and Kindergarten.

Three little pigs.

Clifford the big red dog. Thomas and friends. The cat in the hat.

Our preschool teaches basic things like numbers, letters, colors and shapes.  There are some basic books on them.

Baby's ABC ,  

also Tall Board Books have Baby's 123 and Baby's words.  

Colors by Ladybird, they also have other kid books.

The last one is one of my favorites, Baby Kermit's Playtime ABC by: Lily Jones

The Kissing Hand is a book about an animal, maybe raccoon, going off to learn.  He is scared, so Mom kisses the inside of his hand to keep for security...in the end, he kisses Mom's hand when he leaves as she is sad....cute book.  

As for what to expect in school, hopefully your school has an open house day or night where the child can come and see what to expect themselves!

I haven't read them...

my suggestion, go to borders, or B&N and ask there.  they will be able to pull up some books you can read through them there and decide to buy or not.

Or even better, visit your public library.  Chances are this is a book you will only read for a short time.  Why buy it when you can borrow it for free.  If the child does like it, you can always buy it later.
