Starting Warhammer 40k with Necrons?

Im wondering what necron units i should buy to make a full army in the table-top game, Warhammer 40k. I will not be playing apocolypse style. Also, where would you be able to buy the pieces? I looked at games-workshop.com

I would start with 2 troop choices (necron warriors), and a necron lord (your hq choice).  That would be your "starter army".  Every game of 40k has to have these units.

There should be a section of the necron codex that explains how to go about starting an army.

If there are no hobby stores around where you live, you can try ordering from Games Workshop Direct, or try to round up some necrons on eBay.
