  1. if it will be glitzy, how about "Frosted" for a name

  2. Well, Wisconsin has one of the largest communities of German descendants in the US so you could do something reminiscent  of Oktoberfest and specialize in beers, have waitresses wearing typical German attire, do the bar up in traditional Bavarian decoration and even serve bratwurst and Schnitzel as appetizers (or whatever). Just skip the Polka, ok? Names could be "Bier" (beer in Geman) or Bavaria.

Another idea is to center everything around the gazillion lakes, rivers and forests you guys have. Focus everything around fishing and nature. Make it a woody, comfy place, sort of like a cabin retreat filled with fishing gear, nets and very cold beers. You could call it "Tackle" or something.

Last one: Wisconsin is all about cheese, no? You could go all swanky and chic and have wines and Wisconsin cheeses & cheese-centric appetizers, along with the usual drinks. You can even get inspiration from french and italian bistros for this one.

  3. you should name it Flame. put candles everywhere, all different shades of white (eggshell, ivory, bone, cream etc). I have seen candles that are like a couple feet in diameter and come up as high as your waist with maybe 3 or more wicks, they look really nice and unique.. And you should have a fire pit or a large fire place, with lots of comfy leather chairs and sofas, with small votive candles on all the tables. Maybe you could do the walls in a warm dark wine color, or chocolate brown, hang a bear skin up, rusty old chandeliers w/ colored bulbs in them. If you serve food it should  be fire roasted and or very spicy, I went to a restaurant and ordered smores and they bought them to me with a tiny lil bowl of burning coals so i could roast the marshmallows and assemble them myself, it was fun. When I go out to drink I like to do it in a warm, relaxing, inviting, environment.

  4. figure out the theme of the other bars in your town and do something totally different.  for example, if other bars have that country-look, do something modern.  is there alot of twenty-something year olds in the area?? you can get away with a bar with a club feel but without the spinning disco ball.

  5. how about a bar that has something to do about the towns history like old newspaper clippings and like if its a fishing town have things to about fishing for  example

  6. I'm a bartender, and people want something classy that feels like home, so something along the lines of Martini's Uptown, or something catchy like, On The Rocks

  7. CLUB RED make everything red...red candles, red couch, red, lights, red glasses, karaoke, comedy,..........uhhhhhhh RED FOAM, lol wherever u can find that

  8. On The Rocks

    Happy Hour

    Cocktails and Kegs

    The Cocktail Club

    After Five

    The Comfort Zone

    Lounge Lizard

    The Frosted Mug

    The Happy Place

    Your Happy Place

    Your Comfort Zone

    Home Away from Home

    Your Secret Getaway

    Your Place

    The Place To Be

    Shaken and Stirred

    On Tap

For any of these, I would make it like a regular bar with the stools, dart board, pool table, and then I would have a lounge area with some puffy couches, tables, lots of fabric, places that are more comfortable.  This way you're pleasing everyone and you're making it comfortable to everyone.  There are people that can go after work and sit at the bar and talk, play darts, pool, etc, and then there's the area that if girls want to have a girl's night out, there's that comfy area, that even if a guy and girl are on a date, they are secluded in an area that's comfy and cushy with puffy couches/cushions with a table and fabrics surrounding them, etc.

I hope these help.  Good luck to your family and congratulations!
