Starting a business?

Question

I recently started my own business but now I need some more organisers to help with the promotions. We've not made enough yet for big ads in newspapers or magazines and the costs of keeping going are getting a bit heavy. Has anyone any suggestions for free places to advertise that are any good? I've seen a lot of free web sites but they are free because no one ever goes on them i think.

Any suggestions?

I would recommend yellow pages, because they typically don't bill you until the directories are delivered and your phone starts ringing. That is if you go with a display ad.  It also depenends on what type of business you have. If your product(s) or service(s) are not "everyday" (infrequent)purchases, people will more than likely open up the phone book to find someone to buy from. If it's an everyday type purchase like groceries, clothes, etc. they will probably rely on location or word of mouth.  Also keep in mind the independent directories are quite a bit more affordable than the telephone company.

I am into web site development and promotion business for last 10 years and doing newspaper, television, radio and magazine advertisement for the last 2 years too.

So, give me some more details about ur business and I will give u some solid ideas to promote it and even will help u out in ur business promotion.

My ideas & suggestions are not bit expensive though they r creative.... so, choice is urs now..:)

surpising as it might sound - i get 80% of my work from shop window adverts i had some digital postcards done in full colour (Digital print) and i place them in selected shops - post offices are good - and the best ones are post office & newsagents combined next to a bus stop. just a tip for you, dont place them for a week or 2 as people see them and return later - only to see that its no longer there, I place them for 6 months at a time and i get at least 6 jobs a month from them ( I do I.T Support)

Try the idea mentioned below.  It does work.  It may seem such a simple idea that you could easily overlook it.  Don't.  I tried it and it definitely increased the traffic to my web site.  This is also excellent for land based businesses, for the simple reason - people talk.
