Question:

Starting a collection...?

I'd like to start collecting something that will slowly increase in value but is reasonably easy to get hold of. I don't want to collect coins or stamps or anything like that.

Can you please tell me what you collect or what you would recommend?

Thanks!

  1. Zippo lighters

They go up in value a lot,

You can buy solid gold and solid silver ones

  2. football or baceball  stuff

  3. I collect Coca-cola Polar Bears.

I don't care if they increase in value - they make me smile.

  4. There is no guarantee any collection will gain monitary value.  I only collect what I love, so it doesn't matter if it increases or not.  I collect antique millefiori paperweights.  In the 30 or so years I've been collecting them, they have increased in value, but I don't intend on selling them.

  5. For slowly increasing in value..I'd go with gold or silver. Really ,all else is a big old gamble. The market shifts and turns and is so unpredictable.

Case in point..Beany Babies. WHen they were in their hay day they cost big bucks..now you can't even get $1.00 each on ebay for them. No one wants them. I'm sure Webkinz and that kind of thing will take a down turn in the near future too.

For collecting..really, just collect what you love. You will most likely never get a good return back unless you invest in precious metals or firearms..sometimes even coins are good but you really have to know what you are doing. Good luck.
