Starting a comic book collection?

futurama the comic is one of my fav's so i came to think why dont i start collecting them? Here's my quetion how long does it take for them to increase in value? plus got any tips to keep them in good physical health? any other tips for a newbie collecter im kind of enjoying it thanks.

You also need to have backing boards in the protective bags as well.

As far as value goes comics have a very temperamental market.  Some comics are not worth anything monetarily speaking.  For instance Transformers comics have had a up swing in value due to their recent main stream popularity.  Honestly comics nowadays are never really going to reach the extreme values of older comics, because they are printed in such high number and there are so many people out their that protect and keep them in good condition that they are not rarities.

If you must do this, the comics need to be kept in a temperature-controlled environment, You can onely read them with cotton gloves on (the oils in your hands will break down the paper) and you may want to store them in archival plastic bags.

collecting Futurama. Cool. Maybe look for signed issues by their perspective artists. Poly-bag your books. If you want invest in more upscale comic book covers that resist bending too.

* There tends to be several graphic novels as well.
