Starting a local blog and looking for some inspiration and creative ideas.?

I want to start a local blog about my area, and am looking for some creative ideas and inspiration for content that will draw locals in. Does anyone follow or write a local blog that they want to reccommend?

Go to a local event and write about it and post photos about it

This is a great idea. Check you local council and papers for upcoming events. Go along to see what is happening, talk to the people running the event and take lots of photos.

Talk to locals and get their permission to write about what they have to say if you think it will be of interest.  There are generally people in a community that can tell you about the area's history etc.

And tell everyone about it and give them the blog web address. People love to read about themselves so it will give you traffic. Before long your blog will be the place to go to find out what is happening.

Have an upcoming events calendar.
