Since my son has been at school, i have been at college. When i was at college, my hours were 9.30-2.30, which were great, as my son was at school from 9-3, so he didnt have to go into any kind of childcare.

I have just got a job, which starts tomorrow (monday), and i finished college on friday.

with the summer hols starting next week, i will have to put him in holiday club everyday.

I also have a yonger son, but he has always been to nursery, so it doesnt bother him, as he will be going to the same nursery.

My 8 year old son, though, is very worried about going to holiday club, and is really panicking about it.

what can i do to make it easier for him?

  1. tell him mummy is still here and always will be.

  2. Don't make a big deal about it. The more and more you discuss it with him, the worse his anxiety will get because it will be ALL he thinks of. It's like getting a tooth pulled -- the more you THINK about it, the WORSE you think it'll be, even if in the end, there's nothing to it. A little discomfort at first, then you get over it.

Tell him he'll love it and then move on to something else.
