Starting a school club... help?

I'm an incoming junior at my highschool, and after doing some research, I realized that our highschool doesn't have a Make-a-Wish club. I've heard that this club was somewhat common among the other high schools, and I'm really interested in starting one up for the upcomng school year.

My question is...

For those highschool students who do have this club at their school, what is it like? What do you guys do?

And, how would I go about to start this club?

And, is it a good idea to begin with?

Thanks.

  1. i never heard of it. but if you talk to the staff responsible for planning things like these out, then you will most likely get one going.

  2. Well I don't think my school has this club but two of my friends and I plan to start a club. (A g*y-straight alliance, but a club nonetheless)

We plan to talk to the guidance counselor for 9th graders because (as we learned last year) for you to start a club you need like..a chaperon. Basically a teacher to help along with the club and what not. So if you really want to start a club for your school you are going to need a teacher/counselor to help/supervise. Also you are going to need a place where this club can meet. Will you guys meet after school in the cafeteria? Or during 3rd period in the empty spanish class? How will you get members? (Just as you asked) What is it like, what do you do, what do you plan on doing? You might want to have some friends help you start the club. Lots of questions. You really need to know what you want before you go asking for a club.

It's a good idea, I guess. Would I join it? Probably not. Because I have no idea what it's about, what I would have to do as a member of the club, etc.
