I am looking for an estimating software program that will be easy to use and will work for my business, I will mostly be do renovations and additions. Estimated revenue 100,000 to 150,000 a year. Also i am looking for a software program for construction forms, unless there is something better than a software program. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

  1. I spent many years in construction and I learned the best estimator is yourself. Experience tells you what you need to do for the job. The calculators I have seen are not that accurate in time estimates. Of course, each state will have different requirements for your contracts. It might be best to check with a local plan room or the state licensing office for forms. Everyone who publishes them will advertise there.

Your volume sounds awfully small to make a living at. You will probably need at least a 250k gross working alone or with an occasional helper to make it. The overhead is extremely high for a small company.

    Good luck.

  2. Hey,

I would just google what your looking for online to see what comes up. Maybe ask around to others in the field your in to see what there using.  I would definately pick up Quickbooks for your financial needs.

No exact answer but I hope that helps. I was a Landscape contractor in Calif for 27 yrs. so I understand your needs.

    Good luck

  3. Autocad 2008 has a lot in terms of construction but its for architects

as for estimating I am currently working on a house in Cerritos, CA It is a huge house. I ordered 1500 number 4 rebars just to start the foundation, and the building materials charged $2200 for that then I ordered a lot of wood I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it was a big load including all the beams, and big fraiming members like 4x4s, and 6x6, not regular studs yet. They charged $4540 for that I have a list and the receipt, but they are at the jobsite. However I have the licence, but my dad is the one that knows everything. I just draft.

  4. There use to be an application named Promation that did that specifically for construction. Not sure if its still around or not.
