Starting a solo career??

I have a full band to start my solo career. I just need to write some songs. Does anybody have any ideas to get me started?

Ahh...the ideas are already there! Look at what's going on in your life. Look for things, philosophy, ideas, opinions that are interesting. For instance, look at the song "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. It's about how small we are in the world compared to the universe and everything in it. Isn't that an awesome song idea?

If it doesn't come right away, don't rush it. Rushed songs always SUCK. Think of Metallica and their Saint Anger album. They were rushed, and it was horrible.

Take your time. It will come.

Boy are you in for trouble as a music writer if you have to ask what to write about.

what you like

makes you happy

makes you sad

makes you laugh

makes you cry

Tell a story

and on and on.
