Starting high school how to make conversation?

so im starting 9th grade and i want to make friends but im not quite sure what to talk about.

when im sitting next to some one in class on the first day what do i say??

what do i talk about?

only make friends who are the best for you. don't start trying to be someone else just go with the flow in a conversation maybe you'll find some good friends who never knew that ever lived

Stay cool. Just act yourself. Don't try and show off and don't be over confident. Talk about sports if you're a guy. If not any gender can talk about something else like what you think of a teacher or what classes you have. You can talk about you're old school a little bit too. Say something like "What's you're name?"

Get out there! Do some activities! Make friends!
