  1. getting to know them outside of work is great

taking them out to lunch will be great for all of you to bond and be friends

    thanks for answering my question

  2. I say if you are going to be someone's manager or supervisor than ask what they will expect from you and let them know what you will expect from them.  You don't want to go in acting scared or too friendly.  If you act scared people will overlook what you say and act how they want.  If you act too friendly they will see you are their equal which you are not.  I am a manger of 12 employees (28 years old myself) with the youngest person working under me about 45 years old and about 2/3 of my employees have been with the company twice as long as myself.  At first I didn't want to feel like I was being rude and I didn't want to step on anyones toes, but then I told myself "I earned this position so I am going to do MY job!"  So be yourself and tell everyone what you want and how you want it.  Do your jobs and make sure they do thiers.
