  1. they will train you for about 2 weeks and you will have your trainer there with you the whole time the first couple of days. It takes a lot of time to get use to it but once your there its like clock work. Its a very demanding job both physical and mental, make sure you get PLENTY of rest the night before you have to work. listen to your trainer work hard and try to go out on your own a little(answering a call light or two, getting lenins or equipment out) trainers LOVE that, it shows that you really like what your doing and that you dont have to be told to do every little thing (the first couple days you will have to be told just about everything though thats normal) oh btw evenings are a lot slower than the day shift and you probably only have one meal to feed the residence which makes it nicer for newbies. anyways i hope this helps and good luck with your new job!

  2. It is going to be hard! Your going to meet all these new people that you are going to be taking care of. A lot of them have special  ways they want things to be done. Make sure you ask alot of questions about the people you are going to take care of and how they like things to be done. You are going to feel stressed because you are going to be learning alot of new things. Alot of times coworkers dont share with you all the details that you need to know along with alot of people not being big on team work. I am very big on team work...and I am very big on keeping the rooms nice and clean. Learn as much as you can about the place you are working at. Make sure before you leave your shift that you change everyone. Alot of times the next shift when they see you again after leaving someone messy are very upset and have words with you. It also is very annoying when you come to work and everyone is wet and you know that who ever had them didnt do last rounds. Before you get a person up who has a colostomy bag...make sure that its stapped on...I've had times where the shift before me didnt snap it on and I got p**p all over me.

Do this job because you love it, never hurt anyone...and try to be as understanding as you can..many residants will be nice to you...and there will be the handfull that are so mean to you that you cry. The first time you deal with a person who dies have a person with you when you change them. It is really hard to change a person who has died by yourself.

    Good luck
