Starting pitcher Andy Pettitte could play again next season – MLB Update
New York Yankees' starting pitcher Andy Pettitte played in the post season and played well. He came out from retirement and wanted to win another World Series with the Yankees but unfortunately he could not do so as his team lost bitterly.
“You can make it go quick in free agency and trades, If you want to compel someone to move as fast as possible want something done early, you’ve got to pay to get it done ... a lot. I’d rather take the patient approach,” general manager Brian Cashman said.
He added, “I’m ready to rock and roll, but it’s hard for players agents to move early if they feel there could be more options later. You can overpay if you jump in too early I don’t want to do that, but that won’t prevent me from doing something if I think it’s the right thing to do.”
As the season ended with San Francisco Giants’ World Series triumph, the New York Yankees’ started rebuilding their team. However, the top management do not know yet that what is Pettitte’s current status?
The Yankees still do not know as whether he will be coming back in the Major League or not.
However, now news is coming in the local media that Pettitte will be giving a potential timetable on his potential future.
According to rules, he is a free agent and free to sign anywhere in the league. However, experts believe that Pettitte is also thinking to receive another contract from the Yankees.
He started his career in the Yankees roster in 1995 and played with persistency throughout his time in New York side.
Later he started playing with Houston Astros but again signed with the Yankees in 2007 and since then playing here.
As 2012 Major League Baseball season was started, Pettitte’s several injuries provoked him to take retirement from the game.
The Yankees on other end continued their good performance and reached this year’s playoffs. As soon as Yankees reached post season, Pettitte came out from retirement and proved that he still has couple of years of baseball in him.
