Starting pitcher Chad Durbin inks one year contract with the Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians have decided to sign a one year contract with free-agent pitcher Chad Durbin for the upcoming 2011 Major League Baseball season.  Durbin's contract will consist of 800,000-dollars support income with a 1-million-dollar inducement. The
agreement is awaiting conclusion of a physical test.
The 33-year-old Durbin has also been associated to the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox. His verdict could focus on whether a club is eager to suggest a Major League deal as conflicting to a Minor
League contract with a Spring Training option.
The Phillies found the option of getting back Durbin in the early hours of off-season, but arbitrations delayed after the team used up 120-million-dollars on free agent Cliff Lee. The Philadelphia desk office determined to go with the teenager as the more
reasonable substitute in middle relief.
Durbin dished up as a starting pitcher for numerous spells, before finally starting in the bullpen. Throwing in relief, Durbin provided a number of tasks, counting extended relief and set of connections.
During the 2007 spring training season, Durbin was a serious contender for one of the last spots in the Tigers bullpen. The starting pitcher, Kenny Rogers become a part of disabled list with a shoulder injury, and the Tigers called on Durbin to fill up his
spot.
Durbin was an important bullpen provider for National League East heading teams in Philadelphia from the period of 2008-2010. He had 64 appearances and 75 1/3 innings in a season for Manager Charlie Manuel during that duration.
Durbin started his professional baseball with Kansas City in 1996 and become a starting pitcher in the initial games of his career. He had an exemplary record with the top Major League teams of baseball like Kansas City Royals, Indians, Arizona Diamondbacks,
Detroit Tigers and the Phillies.
In 2010, the right-handed Durbin had a Win-Loss record of 4-1 with a 3.80 earned run average in 64 games for the Phillies. Durbin accumulated 63 hit outs beside 27 walks over in 68 2/3 innings. In his 308 professional games, he had 75 starts, 36-44 Win-Loss
record with a 5.05 ERA. He used up fractions of the 2003 and 2004 seasons with the Indians.
Durbin, who had created attention from some organizations as a starter, is anticipated to throw out of the bullpen session for the Indians.
It will be interesting to see how Durbin can make an impact for the Indians, as the regular season is right around the corner.
