Starting pitcher Jacob Turner not for sale, states Detroit Tigers’ GM Dave Dombrowski – MLB News
Recently, trade speculations about the Detroit Tigers’ starting pitcher Jacob Turner has created some great hype in the media. However, according to Tigers’ president and current general manager Dave Dombrowski, all these speculations are just rumours while
emphasizing Turner and his game he stated that the player is not going anywhere and will be playing in the next MLB season.
The Tigers’ GM spoke to the media and cleared the whole situation that their 2012 pitching prospect is not going anywhere and that the team has full faith in him as Dombrowski said,
“We are not looking to trade Jacob Turner, We love the guy. But I have received calls from clubs wondering if we would be interested in certain players because they have interest in our players. And he is a guy they ask about because he is held in such high
esteem. Do we listen to anybody? Yes. But we are not looking to trade Jacob Turner by any means. Our philosophy remains the same.”
Initially the rumours about Turner involved the fact that he is going to be traded to the Chicago Cubs franchise for a potential return deal for Matt Garza. Though, some thought these rumours weigh some logic as Garza is a highly experienced player as the
Cubs will also agree as they need a good pitcher like Turner.
However, now all these rumours have died and Turner’s fans must be happy on his future relationship with the Detroit Tigers. Inexperienced but highly talented Turner is only 20-years old and possesses some great pitching qualities. He played his first Major
League Baseball season in 2011 and proved his valour where he went 8.53 ERA along with 0-1 win-loss record, eight strike-outs and 1.66 WHIP which are considered very good stats.
While for Turner, this is extremely good news that he is now staying with Detroit for several more years where he can improve his game learning alongside Tigers’ ace pitcher and this year’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Justin Verlander.
