I am currently homeschooled and im getting cabin fever from being locked up in the house 24/7. I want to go back to public school but i'm petrified of starting school in the middle of the year. Im a freshman in high school. There's about a month and a half left of school. I really don't want to go back but I think it might be a good thing. Any advice?

  1. Homeschool should not mean being locked up all day. Try changing the way you homeschool. Explore your options. If you want to go to public school in the fall, so be it. But for now, you'd be getting out of school about the time you settled into the groove of public school.

As a homeschooling mom, I love spending time with my child. But we do not let our selves be trapped in the house. We are both social butterflies and would quickly become bored if we did. Today is a school day. I've had 2 friends over today. They stopped by on their lunch break. She has been out twice to play with friends (it is spring break for the public schools) and we both have our own interests separate from each other. We walk in the park. We go to the cheap movies with buddies. There are many possibilities for an active social life within homeschool.  It is like anything else, you have to find the balance to make it work.

  2. I tried homeschool my three stepchildren. It lasted for about a month. I myself was about to go crazy. It did feel a bit like  being trapped. You need to call your public school and see if they will accept your credits from homeschooling. My friend Amber was homeschooled and when she wanted to go back to regular school, the only school that would take her was a private school without her losing all her credits.

  3. First of all why be homeschooled??? it's just a way to trap u from all social life. dont be afraid to go to school. its not anything outta this world. =)

  4. I know from personal experience how you might be feeling. I have bounced from public to homeschool, back to public, and then back to homeschool, however I did finally pick "my place" so to speak in a public high school. I am also a freshman. I do not think that going to public school this close to the end of the year would be beneficial to you. Most homeschool curriculums are quite different than public's and so going back this late in the year could be very dangerous to your high school career because they will be reviewing things that they already know for final exams and you will be trying to learn the things that they are reviewing. I would suggest getting plugged in to your local homeschool group and even though most of the activities will be winding down soon, most aren't dependent on prior learning and it will provide an outlet for that cabin fever. I hope I helped!

  5. Why are you at home 24/7?  There's a whole world of activities, classes, and volunteer opportunities out there?  Read this book and get cracking!
