I heard that there are some things you can and can't do with stocks, and if you do something wrong you could go to jail. So, I need to know the basics of how everthing works, when to bid, and how to increase my portfolio.

  1. There is too much to cover in this forum.  Take a Finance course at the nearest college.  You won't regret it.

  2. Hi there. I am not sure if there is only one website or only one book that will provide all the answers to your broad question.

First off, buying or selling stock does not put you in jail. Insider trading does. Or any other illegal activities that scam customers or in cheating by knowing info you should not. Then you will be investigated and prosecuted. Basically doing business with a reputable business will not put you into jail unless there is cause.

There are many books, classes, college courses, videos, websites, and investment firms out there that have investment advice for you. Some you pay. Many others you get free for learning how to begin. Ask for handouts. Go to libraries. Look at financial blogs. Go to MSN or Yahoo finance for expert advice and create a nonprofit portfolio that will help you understand how stocks work. Go to wikipedia too for a concise short definition. I know MSN has some good "how-to" learn stock articles. I am not sure what Yahoo has, but I know there is a wealth of information out there. Also, I hope soon to put together a blog that points anyone interested in investing in the right direction. Whether low or high risk or known or unknown ways to make an extra buck in profit.

  3. join a real stock trading site like www.societecaribe.com
