  1. get a tread mill or something

    because seriously...

    you should be scared

    there are lots and LOTS

    of bad people

    out there

  2. Well no matter how safe a neighborhood you live in, there is still always a chance of something bad happening. Try getting somebody to run with you. There's strength in numbers! lol but seriously, there is. Or, you can go to a gym or something and use the treadmill. But that would cost you so.. yeah.

  3. Get a light weight cell phone to take with you.  Also, wear a whistle and dog tags around your neck.  I do like the idea of running with someone.  Also, try not running at night.

  4. run at like 4 in the afternoon when alot of people are out doing yardwork..bring a cell phone..keep a knife on you

  5. :('s answer is right on. most people get robbed when they feel scared bc they look scared. totally chose that as the best answer

  6. i know this sounds lame, but when i run i take a thing of mace with me. sorta like pepperspray.even thogh i may not use it, it still makes me feel secure. you should try it.

  7. Get some mace. That's something that's cheap and will give you some way to defend yourself.  I also run with my cell phone in hand. Just a suggestion

  8. Don't be scared. The easiest way to get mugged/kidnapped/whatever is to look scared. People can sense when you're frightened and they will see you as a weak, easy target. Learn to feel more confident, and you'll have less to worry about.

Also try familiarizing yourself with your neighborhood during the day. That way you'll always know that if you end up getting chased or whatever you know the fastest way home. Stuff like that.

You could also carry an X-Acto blade or a Swiss army knife or something with you, just in case you need to defend yourself.

But mostly, relax. I'm sure you'll be fine.

  9. It kind of depends on what type of fear it is. It might be a rational fear, like maybe something similar to this happened before to you or to someone you know in this neighborhood. Or it may be irrational, as in a phobia. If you know exactly why you're afraid, try to see if you are actually in danger. Ask neighbors and friends in the same area, and look up newspaper reports if that makes you feel more comfortable. If you see that there is danger, you shouldn't run there, but you said it's a decent neighborhood, so you should be fine. Do you know what to do if someone tries to rob or kidnap you? Are you strong enough to defend yourself? Take a self defense course if you think that would help.

If you think it's a phobia, as in, you're totally freaked out of it and you have no reason to be, you can see a counselor. They are able to help you deal with and get over whatever fears you have.

It might make you more comfortable to run with someone for the first few times, so you can see that your route is safe.

    Good luck!!

  10. start with running with someone... or just get over it. Take your cell along with you, and know u can always outrun, or fight someone.

  11. Run with someone. Walk a dog or something...
