State Lodge in good position to dominate William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes at Newcastle
S. Ray’s newly-turned 3-year-old, State Lodge, returned to form with a solid effort last week. Although the margin of victory was not big, it was surely an impeccable show. Despite being under a lot of pressure, the blue dog led the proceedings all the way
through, seizing the first place by a short head’s distance.
His fresh fine act makes him a major player in the William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes, going down at Newcastle on Tuesday, September 04, 2012. The 480 metres flat race is scheduled to get started at 20:19 GMT.
It is an A2 event, and carries a cash prize worth £127. Besides State Lodge, the participants are: Shooting Star, Centaur Chav, Blue Juttle, Southlodge Man and Old Fort Mission.
State Lodge went through a bad spell, before he unchained the shackles last time. He suffered an embarrassing defeat on August 22nd, when finishing fifth behind Droopys Moore. Just after a couple of days, another awful loss came to him. He once
again got crowded in the beginning and as a result, ended up fourth on the table.
The latest one was a clean ride and therefore, he produced a positive result. His recent track record shows that the hound will have a good chance, only if he avoids crowding in the middle.
Southlodge Man’s chance is not as obvious as some others in the race. Although the black dog is in fine fettle, the step up in class will be a concern.
Shooting Star, on the other hand, knows how to win should the chance arise again. The black dog, trained by J. Wright, was an unlucky loser last time. He failed to recover after getting badly crowded early on. A clear passage is required to fancy some chances.
As far as Centaur Chav’s case is concerned, a few others have chances that are more glaringly obvious. Blue Juttle recently showed no progress in a few recent races. Similarly, it is not an easy task for Old Fort Mission under these circumstances.
State Lodge’s latest effort gave his supporters a lot of hope. If the son of Elite State delivers an equally good show, he will easily bag the first prize. Good luck to all the hounds.
