State Ranking Badminton Tournament: Ashwini Bhat K topples Richa Muktibodh to surge into top-four
India’s in-form young shuttler Ashwini Bhat K continued her tremendous run and surged into Girl’s Singles U13 semi-final after toppling her lower ranked compatriot Richa Muktibodh in quarter-final showdown of Udupi 5 Star State Ranking Badminton Tournament on Tuesday, July 10, in India.
Ashwini, who has been positioned at number one in Girl’s Singles seeding of the championship, remained on track as she found no interruption from her rival in the whole quarter-final contest and wrapped up victory in a comprehensive fashion.
The in-form Ashwini remained on driving seat throughout the clash against the sixth seeded Richa and ended it up in straight games with an amazing difference on the score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Richa could not match the skills and speed of her in-form compatriot. She was no match to her higher ranked opponent and bowed down to her in two sets in a lopsided fashion.
Ashwini was in full swing from the opening points of first game as she was taking the bird early and employed her tremendous shots in right areas.
The aggressive Ashwini remained in control as she did not let her lower ranked compatriot to put up strong resistance and established a remarkable gap until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Ashwini continued her superb run and made Richa work extremely hard for every point on court.
The top seed sailed smoothly in opening set of this quarter-final battle and took it with a striking 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Richa also elevated her level and trouble her higher ranked team-mate by playing with aggression.
However, Richa failed to maintain her positive run until the end of opening half when she was slightly down on the score board.
After the one-minute interval, it was Ashwini who managed to stretch her lead by playing with precision.
She did not miss any chance to earn points at the ending phase and took the set with a 21-15 score on the board.
The top seeded Ashwini easily bagged a spectacular victory in Girl’s Singles quarter-final battle with a stunning score of 21-10 and 21-15.
