State Ranking Badminton Tournament: Harrshit, Sankeerth stamp supremacy in Boy’s Doubles event
Boy’s Doubles crown of Udupi 5 Star State Ranking Badminton Tournament belonged to Harrshit Agarwaal-Sankeerth B R who trounced Lok Sainath K-Madusudan M in the title match of Under-17 category on July 11, 2012.
This final match lasted only for 15 minutes and ended with 21-12 and 21-10 scores after two games.
The duo displayed unbeatable craft and sealed a splendid straight-set win to claim the highest position on the victory stand.
Meanwhile, the opposing team was no comparison to them as they lost both sets with a huge difference in concluding figures.
Harrshit and Sankeerth, who were also top seeded in this tournament, showed their intentions when they prevailed in five nonstop rallies straight away in the beginning of the first set.
They employed unique tactics as at first they confined their challengers in the rear court with power packed smashes and then outclassed them with some impressive net play.
The twosome of Sainath and Madusudan had no reply to this matchless strategy and they remained confused all the way to mid-game break.
They hardly put up any resistance in the first half and allowed their competitors to pile up a mountainous total of 11-5 before the interval.
After one-minute break, Harrshit-Sankeerth injected more intensity in their attack and built pressure with 16-7 margin.
Though, the opposing team stepped forward in final moments but it was not enough to avoid a 12-21 defeat in opening set.
Next segment of the show started in an interesting fashion as Sainath-Madusudan aroused their spectators’ hopes by making swift progress in the beginning.
However, they could not go with the same flow after 5-2 and pocketed only five points in remaining part of the game.
On the other hand, Harrshit and Sankeerth rose from the dust and wrapped the show despite having a rough start.
At first, they caught their rivals at 5-5 and then established a decent lead with 9-5 total.
They maintained this initial advantage all the way to mid-game break and pushed their competitors on the back-foot with 11-6 margin.
Later part of the decider saw them launching a furious attack and demolishing their opponents’ defence with a striking 21-10 knock.
