Or is it just a filler?

I'm not interested to be honest and hope that none of the Collingwood players are selected.

  1. The crowds at the game and the TV audience are going to tell the full story as to whether people are interested or not, and I would put my house on the fact that most people ARE going to be interested.

How can a game with Judd, Brown, Reiwoldt, Kerr, Scarlett, Cornes, Hodge, Pavlich, Mcleod etc be boring?

It may not be the traditional state of origin, but its definitely still  going to be exciting, and my bet is that there will be over 80,000 at the game.

We may all want the old style game back, and the traditional state of origin, but if the players embrace it, its still going to be awesome to watch.

I say try it and see how it goes.  h**l, ill watch it.

  2. State of Origin lost all relevance the day Ted Whitten died.

All it will be is a $$$$$$$$$ to Andy Yannapopolopolous Demetriou.

The game is too fast these days to play Origin, i agree with you Rogue, i don't want any Brisbane boys picked either, chances of a final are slim pickings now anyway, if we were to loose big names like Brown, Bradshaw, etc.......well, need i say more. It's a $$$ filler

  3. If they play this game compare the intensity of it with the next State of Origin match between the Blues & the Maroons.

    There will be no comparison.

  4. Yes I agree with you.

Leave the State of Origin for the Veterans!!!!

    Love watching that.

Apparently they want to do this to Mark the 150th year of Footy.

I reckon do it yes,but get the reserve teams to play.

I would not mind watching it.

    Go Vics!!!!!!

  5. Not doing anything for me I'm afraid.  While my 'state of origin' (birth) is Victoria, I've lived and played footy most of my life in Qld, NSW and ACT (under the rules I'd be a NSW player).  I don't think any of these teams is playing and if they are they wouldn't be competitive since the Daniher's and Hird retired!

Just another chance for Bartel, Ablett, Ling and six other 'all-Australians' AT LEAST to get injured.  I'd rather have another Flag while we're hot!!!! :-)

EDIT: And Roguey I thought you'd l**k your chops at that opportunity!  But you could lose Thomas and a few others too.

  6. i am for sure, i missed the it, should be a great game

  7. It doesn't interest me at all because it isn't a real state of origin I would much rather watch the young kids play in the Teal cup.

I am with you on this one I hope no Eagles get selected but I

    doubt that's going to happen.

Looks like I have taken thumbs down for for nothing mantel as I  said to Lover from oz the other night I never them to anyone

except maybe Iawanka some people are so pathetic and I never expected it  in an Aussies section.

I have just noticed most regulars have got lots of thumbs down as  I said some people are so pathetic.Keep up the good work guys.

  8. AFL State of Origin is a joke.  Hasn't been viable since expansion.

The NRL has got it right with State of Origin.  NSW vs QLD.  Stick with that instead.

  9. Not in the slightest and I know the players couldn't give a stuff. I remember years ago how they feigned injury during origin week but played for their club the week before and the week after. Besides that I consider guys like Michael O'Loughlin to be Sydney through and through, to see him playing for SA against NSW just doesn't appeal to me.

  10. nah,I'm all for state of origin lets bring it back, you cant beat seeing the best the country has to offer all playing in the same game, and as for injuries whats the difference they play NAB cup, practise matches pre season, and competitive work at training all year where they can still get injured,or they could simply slip in the shower like one from north this year-i think its time to re-ignite some interstate rivalry

  11. The only way you can have state of origin is as a curtain raiser to the grand final or after the grand final. It wouldn't have much interest either way.

Too many chances for injury and I agree with Ray A, I don't want any Catters to get hurt. Actually none of the clubs can afford it.

I am just interested in getting a big V jumper of my own.

  12. Not really bothered neither Rogue.

We all know that our South Aussie players are the best in ozz anyway :))))))))))

    "pinch of salt" (remember)

  13. They are playing a game after round 7 Victoria , (coached by Mark Thompson) and the all stars (coached by Mark Williams)  so after the grand final you could say, both coach's have made their MARK.   Different to state of origin, the 2 teams will be selected from the competions / country's "50 best players", which has never happened previously.   On Melbourne radio (Monday 26th) Brisbane's Jonathon Brown was quoted as saying the game has the potential, due to the quality and calibre of the players involved to be the best game of "all time" .   Going by All Australian selection this season Rogue, if selectors are consistent, Collingwood players are unlikely   make selection again .

  14. not interested, no idea what it means, just saying hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  15. I'm so not interested unless it's AFL

  16. dont really care  bout it tht much

    but ill probs watch it

  17. I love state of origin, but this is different.

It's not the SA V Vic or the WA v Vic rivalry. It's a match to show off talent for an Anniversary.

I have no doubt it will showcase some great players of the current game, but it's not a true definition for State of Origin.

I don't mind if Hwathorn players are selected, but i would hate to see any of them get injured in a showcase match for anyone who is involved in it.

  18. Well i doubt you will have to worry about c'wood players being picked, none made the all Australian squad even, let alone the actual team, so you'll be right. even the mighty tigers had 2 in the initial squad, yes i know we were bottom but we still beat collingwood, AGAIN.----glad u have a sense of humour, you'd have to i suppose,  being a c'wood fan, lol.

  19. State of origin is dead, has been for years, let's move on,,

Six thumbs down, I feel like I've arrived, thanks to the petty.

  20. I am all for State Of Origin, I love it. Let's kick a Vic...Lol. I enjoy all the pre-game taunts and rubbish talk. The States best players, playing not only for their State, but for PRIDE and BRAGGING rights. Bring back State Of Origin, I say.
