If you are in a state where pre existing conditions are seemingly ok, what exactly does it mean? How do I find out more about this? Could I get insurance and pre exist conditions would still be cared about?????

  1. You just answered this question yourself, lol.  It literally means that the insurance should cover conditions existing prior to you purchasing insurance!  Chances are is to good to be true.  You are most likely going to pay a higher rate as luck would have it.  Keep asking questions! thanks

  2. State insurance commissioner offices regulate the maximum time that a health carrier can exclude pre existing conditions and it will vary from state to state.   Washington, for instance, at one time only allowed a 90 day exclusion, but that was recently changed to one year.  Now, just because a state allows it, doesn't mean that the insurance company will write it into the policy.  They have the option of making it a shorter wait but most don't.  Check with your state's commissioner's office to see what they allow, then check with the companies that write in your state to see what they have in their policies.

Now, this all would depend on your being able to qualify for the coverage.  If your pre existing condition is too bad, they can deny coverage.

  3. Where you live is not relevant to an insurance accepting or declining your coverage due to pre-existing conditions. It depends on the policy and how it is written. But in order to give you a better answer, I would need more info on your particular situation.
